Aerobats was born when my friend Tia and I were first starting aerial acrobatics.
We used videos as a means to record our training, but we needed a way to name, label, search, and even link videos to one another to create training plans and choreography.
Tia and I had lots of ideas for features, but first we spent many hours on interviews with both aerial students and instructors on how they felt their training could be improved.
...then we went to the whiteboards
Apart from the shared UX, my work from Aerobats could be broken into three main components:
LOGOS
Because Aerobats was a project that continued over many years, it saw a few different transformations. The first version of the logo checked all the boxes for look, but it didn't say "aerials" to me.
The updated logo incorportated the silks, which I felt added the dynamic movement that Aerobats deserved.
BRANDING & DESIGN
We continued to revise this app the entire time we trained in aerials, over nearly six years. As you can see, it underwent many redesigns as tastes and styles changed.
MARKETING
The website was shared via the Facebook page, and the sign-up for beta form was very successful in building our email lists.
Other marketing pieces included business cards and online ads.
